India topped their pool defeating Wales (2-1) and Ecuador (3-0).In the round of 16 India defeated Netherlands (3-0), but lost to Canada (1-2) in the quarterfinal. In the 5/8 play off matches, India beat France (2-1) & New Zealand (2-1) to finish in 5th position.
India’s performance at the World Junior Men’s has been consistent for the past 5 events. Our best performance was in 2008 when we finished 4th. In 2006 – 6th; 2004 – 5th; 2002 – 5th.
Egypt defeated Pakistan in the final to win the title of the third time. Canada came 3rd ahead of England.
